The Appalachian Shakespeare Project

Concord University

The Project

The Appalachian Shakespeare Project exists entirely for the community, and is created by the community. The project's mission is to bring the experience of Shakespeare to those members of the community who might not normally be exposed to the bard's work. The ASP's first show, A Midsummer Night's Dream, was directed by Erin Bone Steele, and staged in the Concord University gazebo. In 2011, Mrs. Steele sat in the director's chair once again in the ASP's production of Macbeth, with Dr. Gabriel Rieger and Dr. Irene Rieger starring as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.
