Guide to the SGA

Joining the SGA


Joining SGA:
In order for your organization to be recognized in the SGA there are some requirements that must be met. You must submit an organizational constitution and by-laws to the Student Center office and the SGA office. You must complete an advisor form including all necessary information and signatures. Inform the SGA secretary that you intend to represent your organization in the student senate. Your organization CANNOT be related to any specific class, university funded athletic team, or any group under the university administration.

Gaining Voting Rights:
In order for your organization to gain voting rights you must meet the following requirements. Voting privileges will be granted to a recognized organization upon the start of their fifth student senate meeting attended, within their first recognized semester.

Gaining Budgetary Rights:
In order for your organization to gain the right to submit an application for funding to the Budgetary Committee you must meet the following requirements. Budgetary privileges will be granted at the start of the organization’s second recognized semester, provided that they have complied with the SGA’s attendance policy. Attendance at meetings is required among all organizations and is defined as presence for the duration of the meeting. No more than two unexcused absences shall be permitted per semester.
