B.A. in English major with a literature emphasis

Students selecting a B. A. in English major with a literature emphasis must complete 128 semester hours which include all the General Studies requirements, plus at least 6 hours of one foreign language, a program of electives or a minor as worked out with the student's advisor and 36 hours of the following:

English 205 - Writing About Literature - 3 hours
English 300 - English Grammar - 3 hours
English 302- Study of the English Language - 3 hours
English 308 - Advanced Composition - 3 hours
English 324 - Survey of British Literature I - 3 hours
English 325 - Survey of British Literature II - 3 hours
English 326 - Survey of British Literature II - 3 hours
English 327 - Survey of American Literature I - 3 hours
English 328 - Survey of American Literature II - 3 hours
9 hours from 431A- 440A including at least one course in Shakespeare - 9 hours

Recommended: PHIL 101, 102, HIST 314, and additional coursework in foreign language(s).

A grade average of at least 2.50 is required in all work attempted in English at Concord. Also, the student must also have two Bs in literature survey courses, one B in 300 or 302, one B in writing courses 205 and 308 and three Bs in advanced mini-courses.
