About Me
I was originally born in Kingsport, Tennessee, but at a young age moved to Bluefield, WV where I have lived since. I graduated from Bluefield High School with honors in 2004, where I held officer positions in a variety of clubs including national honor society, student council, and the 100th year celebration committee. At the positions I was appointed to, I helped organize events, including the first ever Veteran's assembly at the school. Also during my high school career, I played on the tennis team and helped contribute to a three consecutive year state championship titles. I also won the singles championship title my sophomore year, as well as runner up in doubles. During high school, I maintained a steady lawn service business, which helped me with my organizational skills and taught me to be more responsible.
After graduating high school, I made the choice to go to a local college that offered a variety of disciplinary studies, but was well known for its academic rigor. After almost five years of undergraduate study at Concord University, I am very happy with my choice. The small classroom environment and teaching competencies of the faculty, far exceeded my expectations. I feel confident that I will be able to carry these skills over to the workforce and become successful. I was also a part of the Investment Club at Concord, which helped students who did not know anything about the stock market, to become familiar with trading. Each student was also encouraged to contribute a small amount of money, so the group as a whole could invest. It has grown tremendously over the past few years and I am proud to have been a part of such a new and unique group. Since my freshman year, I have also secured another job besides mowing yards, that has helped tremendously with becoming familiar with a business culture. I have worked in the customer service area at a grocery store chain named Food City since my freshman year at Concord. Here, I not only helped to fund my education, but also broadened my work experience, which has given me more confidence when interacting with people.
In my free time, I enjoy
spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy outdoor activities,
mainly biking, tennis, golf, and shooting. I have always had a passion for sports
cars and endurance automobile racing. I try to attend a couple events a
year at Virginia International Raceway, in Danville, VA. I try to make the
most of life and not stress over the small things, because everyone knows that
life is short!
