Dr. McKenna is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing in the history of philosophy and religion. He began his career as a musician and has a degree in music from the University of Delaware (B.A. 1989). He developed an interest in history while studying music history and also has a degree in history from the University of Delaware (B.A. 1989). He worked for several years as professional musician while continuing his academic career in interdisciplinary programs in history, philosophy, and religion at St. Bonaventure University (M.A. 1991) and Yale University (M.A. 2002, Ph.D. 2004). He has taught at Connecticut College in New London, CT, and St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY, and he currently teaches history and philosophy at Concord. He is a member of Concord’s Faculty Senate and the Academic Policy Committee. He is the faculty advisor for Concord’s Philosophical Society and assists with the Annual Philosophy Essay Contest and the Roth Scholarship Essay Prize.
