Supervise AmeriCorps members as they connect parents and the community to children's learning by recruiting, training and supervising volunteers. Supervise AmeriCorps members as they connect the site to the community through public relations efforts, including working with the media. Facilitate team reflection at least twice a week.  Work with county Extension agent or Energy Express county contact to: Ensure media involvement at the site. Plan and implement a site open house, preferably in the fifth week of the program. Plan and participate in Celebration of Service event the sixth week of the program. Support AmeriCorps members in conducting family visits and maintaining contacts with families. Maintain a sense of teamwork and cooperation among all those involved in the program. Maintain open and honest communication with all those involved in the program. Assume responsibility for facility and equipment and be present when the facility is in use by Energy Express. Supervise AmeriCorps members and volunteers in completing a supply inventory and packing supplies and resource materials when the program is finished.       Duties & Responsibilities: Recruits and enrolls eligible children and families, maintaining enrollment per program requirements, conducts with all families at least four home visits per program year to identify and access family strengths and set family goals, acts as a liaison and advocate between community resources and families, provides management, crisis intervention, and resource/referral services, promotes parental involvement in all parent meetings and activities, ensures and supports family involvement in program governance and in all aspects of the Head Start Program, ensures all health/dental screenings and follow-up for children per performance standards, completes documentation and submits all appropriate paperwork and reports as required, works as a team player with center staff, NRCA staff, parents and other community organizations to ensure all service area requirements are met to carry out the goals and objectives of the Head Start Program, participates fully in staff meetings and training experiences as deemed necessary by the supervisor, maintains confidentiality of family records an information, works within required state and federal guidelines; follows agency policies/procedures in all areas, professionally represents NRCA in the community, personally reports to Department of Social Services all suspected child, aged, or incapacitated adult abuse and neglect as required by law and documents accordingly. Informs supervisor of all reports to Department of Social Services, Performs all other duties that advance the philosophy and goals of the program and NRCA as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Willingness to work primarily in the homes of families residing in high-risk communities, must be friendly, positive, responsible, and capable of exercising good judgment in dealing with children and adults, must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, bending, and standing, must be flexible and ready to deal with unexpected situations, must possess proven ability to communicate and work well with others, Willingness and ability to utilize computer in managing family data to meet essential job requirements, ability to fluently use or learn to use Microsoft Office and online database, must maintain regular attendance and perform job duties and responsibilities in a satisfactory manner, applicant must sign authorizations for NCRA to perform DMV and Criminal Record Checks to demonstrate that a satisfactory driving record and no pending or found charges or convictions related to abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of children or adults (or other felony or misdemeanor charges which would conflict with the mission and philosophy of the agency). Must possess valid driver's license and safe driving record. Must pass physical examination.

      Requirements: Associate degree (Bachelor's preferred) in human services field or another degree with an equivalent number of credits in a human services field plus one year related experience with human service agency or program.

      1-06-10 Mercer County COFY Coalition seeking individuals (18-21 years-old) to participate in Compliance Checks.  volunteers will ride with a State Trooper to convenience stores and attempt to purchase alcohol. 

      Also seeking individuals for Sticker shock.  Individuals go into convenience store and place stickers on alcohol products.  The stickers warn against buying alcohol for minors.  There is no age limit for Sticker Shock.

      Volunteers are given a $25 Wal-Mart gift card for each evening that Compliance Checks or Sticker Shock are completed.
