      06-19-13 Contract Case Manager - Comforts of Home, Charleston, WV

      We are looking for someone who may or may not have experience with the Medicaid Aged and disabled Waiver Program. As of now, we have 11 clients. The position would include one call per month to each client asking them a set of questions. Each client would need a home visit one time per year, and minimal advocacy such as helping find adult diapers or connecting them with community services. A monthly report by email would be to be submitted to Bureau of Senior Services, typically at the same time each month. Occasionally a little more time would be required for paperwork if a client needed help with a care level change. Calls could be made from home and a laptop used to fill out the forms. We currently have a case manager on staff who could train the contracted case manager for the position.

      The WV Healthy Kids and Families Coalition is a 15 year-old organization dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of West Virginia's children and families. We are currently looking to hire a staff person as a Lead Organizer to work closely with out Director. The Lead Organizer would be responsible for splitting community organizing and advocacy operations throughout the state with our executive Director. How that splits happen (which regions, which specific tasks) depends largely on the skills and experience of the person we hire.

      Responsibilities: Split organizing responsibilities with Director. This person would be responsible for organizing half of the state. In their half, the Senior Organizer would be responsible for all of the following: Maintaining strong relationships with out diverse base of grassroots and grasstops partners (including service providers, parents, teachers, unions, businesses, legislators and faith groups); constantly recruiting new partners and funders in that area, with a special emphasis on recruiting parents and kids affected by child poverty; organizing frequent local trainings and political forums that develop new leaders and advance our statewide issues; identify local issues and projects of concern and mobilizing people around those concerns; organizing outreach efforts on key programs (particularly, helping to make sure that 120,000 West Virginians get signed up for Medicaid); organizing local press activity, op-eds, press releases; generating phone calls, emails, letters, etc. in support of issues; and being creative and opportunistic about attracting new people, new issues, and new money to the organization.

      Preferred Qualifications: At least 3-5 years experience and a track record doing community organizing, advocacy, voter turnout, faith, or non-profit management work; experience building teams or mobilizing leaders from various sectors and walks of life, a deep desire to build power among everyday people to win real change; willingness to travel - many weeks will require as many as 15-20 strategy meetings with a wide range of partners, sometimes in different regions of the state; outstanding self-motivator - you will be responsible for managing your own calendar; a thick skin - willing to stand up for what he/she believes in; and ideally would bring some expertise in at least one of the following areas: policy, public health/Medicaid/CHIP, HR/Administration, fundraising, social media, and/or working with poor and working class families.

        3-26-2013 Summer Theatre for Technical Production Work

        Applications are available in the Career Services office for Summer Theatre Employment for technical production work, depending upon casting and actual production of plays, presented by Masquers and Town & Gown, School of Fine Arts, Fairmont State University.  Opportunities include Box Office/Publicity, Assistant Stage Managers, Prop Master, Scenic Artist, Crew and Wardrobe.  all positions are salary based.  Pay will be based on budget and experience of applicant.  Accommodations can e made for summer school class schedules of other work obligation.
